A note from Nicole, LMT at Health First Seattle.
For my first blog entry, I just want to thank the Health First patient community for the warm welcome, and for the eagerness to book an appointment and check out my work.
So far, it has been a truly enjoyable learning experience getting to know those of you I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and I am so looking forward to meeting and working with more of you! One thing that has really struck me is just how nice all of my clients at Health First have been. This is a wonderful thing because it means I can look forward to coming to work…AND, I want you all to know that during your massage session, you are really under no obligation to be nice…seriously! I say this because I am obsessed with artistically crafted relaxation experiences.
I believe relaxation is absolutely essential to the body’s healing process, and I take great pride in doing what it takes to help clients reach their ultimate state of bliss. Loss of sensibility, incoherence, confusion, “massage brain”, and of course massage hair, are all beautiful things when it comes to a quality massage session. I am sincerely delighted when my clients really own the process of becoming deeply and blissfully relaxed. If you want me to bring you a glass a water, change the music, the table temperature, change the quality of my touch in terms of pressure, speed, rhythm or direction, if you want me to change the bolstering… please don’t hesitate to speak up, and don’t feel like you have to apologize for these requests. If you feel the need to move around, to moan, whimper, sigh loudly, belt out a falsetto opera, bellow like a freight train, or exercise a bodily function, by all means… just let her rip! These are all forms of feedback that help me to understand what is taking place for you physically and emotionally, which helps me better facilitate your relaxation experience. When you get a massage, it should be your experience, not your therapist’s. When you are on my table, you are always invited to own your own experience!
